My name is VICAIRE Jeremy, and I am passionate about history, science and everything related to discovery.
For a long time, fossils and the mysteries of the past have intrigued me: they represent traces left by time, fragments of stories that the Earth has preserved.
It is this idea — that of finding what has been forgotten — that inspired me to create this site. My project is part of a work on the Matilda Effect, a phenomenon that describes how, throughout history, the contributions of women scientists have often been erased or attributed to men.
I chose to highlight Mary Anning, a woman from the 19th century, self-taught and passionate about fossils, whose discoveries profoundly marked paleontology, even though her name was long forgotten.
Through this site, I wanted to tell her story, share her discoveries, and rehabilitate her place in science.
But even more, I wanted to create a space that pays tribute to all these women who, like Mary, contributed to knowledge without always receiving the recognition they deserved.
